The reality of walking
Walking is one of the most frequent activities to move from one place to another, but does walking work for us? Walking is an excellent exercise, and it is present everywhere, but we have many better activities than walking. Being a teenager, this can be easier to get better results. We can change a simple routine for something more demanding or better for our health.
Walking has become an activity that decreases the
percentage of people walking each year since there are means of transport that
only help to go from one place to another faster. However, when we talk about
health issues, it is an excellent exercise for each person. Being able to walk
for a while does not help much in health, but what happens in the case of young
people? Being a teenager is one of the physical activities that we should do
the least since it does not require great intensity because adolescents have a
greater body capacity than their bodies can withstand. Everything will depend
on your walking time, but there are other alternatives. A study called WHO explains that the guidelines recommend a minimum of 150 to 300 minutes of
moderate activity per week or 75 to 150 minutes of vigorous exercise (or a
combination of both). That's anywhere from an hour and 15 minutes to 5 hours.
For example, A study from 2013 followed men and women who either ran or
regularly walked over six years. They found that runners significantly reduced
body mass index (BMI) over walkers over the trial period. The results showed
that runners were protected against age-related weight gain while walkers were
not. However, there are exceptions to which is better to walk since people with
health or physical problems only allow for walking. If you are young and in good
health, you should demand more from yourself to gain more health and physical
gains faster.
Lastly, each person is free to decide what to do and
to know what is best for people, always thinking about their health, since that
way you will learn how to take the easy or difficult path. Both parts can
generate the same exhaustion, which means that walking, which is less intense,
could offer the same benefits as high-intensity running if you walk for long
enough. Please choose what you like best, or you can have a little more fun
since it is better to walk for 15 minutes than not walk at all. We always need
an activity that can provide us with better health.
I agree with the fact that walking is important exercise that many people do. Sometimes just walking a little everyday can make a difference in how a person feels.
